Mt. Baldy Climb

Come join O.W.L. for a trip up to Mt. Baldy this Saturday (Nov. 5th) . We plan to hike up on the Devils Backbone Trail for a nice long full day hike. *Note This is a long hike. We are not taking the ski lift shortcut.

When: Saturday, November 5th from 9:00 am to 5:00pm (depending on how long we want to chill on the summit.)

What to bring: A windbreaker or some other wind resistant shell. Lots of water and shoes you aren’t afraid to get a bit dusty. The weather forecast says it will be sunny, but there is a chance of rain on the day before the hike. If the forecast suddenly does turn foul, the trip will be cancelled. (Honestly I would rather not hike in the rain/snow)

Hey Everyone!

Have an awesome trip planned this summer, but missing just that one last important piece of gear?  Fear not!  O.W.L. is pleased to announce that… we are renting gear to students over the summer!!  If you’re interested in renting gear, we ask that you please fill out the following form by this coming Monday (May 9th):

This option is available to continuing students only, and we will ask for a CASH deposit to be kept over the summer.  This deposit will be returned as soon as the gear is checked back in at the beginning of next semester.  Good luck with finals, and have an INCREDIBLE summer break!

Overstressed? Overworked? Overtired? Do you want a small break before Finals?

If so then join OWL on the Eaton Canyon Falls trip on Sunday May 1st.

Its a short, but sweet trip that ends in a spectacular(if there is water) 50 foot fall at the end.

Where: Day hike to Eaton Canyon Falls

When: Sunday, May 1st 2011

What to bring:

  • Water–the weather report says mid 80′s
  • Hiking boots/ Shoes with strong supports–the last chunk of hike is a scramble
  • Sun protection
  • Cloths you do not mind getting dirty or wet
  • Bag Lunch from the dining hall

Please RSVP Here by Friday at 12:00 pm

When: Saturday, April 9th. 9am-4pm

Tired of being in the mundane Claremont bubble? Ready to go on a 6 mile adventure complete with waterfalls? If so then join us on Saturday, for a fun hike . Also, if there is snow, and conditions are safe, I will bring sleds to go sledding on the side.

What to bring:

  • Hiking boots
  • Water Shoes (not a necessity but there are river crossings)
  • Warm synthetic cloths( no cotton as it doesn’t keep you warm if wet)
  • Your own bag lunch from the dining hall
  • Water

So the 7 day weather forecast says it might be raining, but I will still go rain or shine. Since the river will be influenced by the rainfall, if it seems unsafe, we will turn back and go on a shorter hike in the area.
